About Programme

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Bachelor of Education (Honours) is designed on part-time basis to allow those who are working and are interested to develop professionally in the field of education. The programme aims to equip individuals involved with the necessary knowledge, embedded with and comprehensive values of Islam, communication and technical expertise in the education world.

At the undergraduate level, the Kulliyyah of Education offers a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in the following specialization:

Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)

Guidance and Counselling (GUIDE)

Islamic Education (ISED)

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE

The common objectives of the programme are as follows:

  1. To produce professionally trained graduate teachers in these areas who uphold the Islamic philosophy of education and are committed to serve the country and ummah.
  2. To serve the growing need of the country in producing teachers in these areas who possess the integrated personality and the tawhidic worldview and act as excellent role models for the younger generation.
  3. To embody, revitalize, and produce graduates from this programme that exemplify in themselves the IIUM mission of Islamicization, Internationalization, Integration and Comprehensive Excellent (IIICE).

Duration of Programme

The duration of the programme is twelve (12) semesters which is equal to four (4) years.

Assessment Method

Continuous Assessment : 40% – 70%
Final Assessment : 30% - 60%

Programme Structure

Students must complete a total of credit hours and MUET requirement as specified in each specializations in order to qualify for the award of Bachelor Degree in Education (Honours). They must pass all courses prescribed in the curriculum structure.

Must be at least 21 years old on the date of application and fulfill the following requirements:

  • Passed SPM with minimum B/4B in English and at least 6C/C in any other 4 subjects including Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics; and
  • Minimum 5 years related working experiences; and
  • Passed interview

  • Passed SPM with minimum B/4B in English and at least 6C/C in any other 4 subjects including Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics; and
